Nintendo and game studios have confirmed the launch titles for the new Switch 2 console, including some optimized games, plus additional gaming coming later in 2025 and 2026.
Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5–6, 2025, in North America, Europe and other regions, for $450 / €470 or $500 / €510 with Mario Kart World included.
It remains a hybrid console that can be connected to the TV or used in handheld mode. When connected to the TV, it delivers games in up to 4K, 120fps at 1080p and HDR.
The first games for Switch 2
But what should you play on a Switch 2, and is it worth buying on launch day based on the available game library?
Available games on launch day include Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6 and Fortnite. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are some of the games that will be optimized for Switch 2 optimized.

Games coming later
After launch, you can look forward to titles such as Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, Elden Ring, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 & 4, EA Sports FC and many other titles.
In addition there are rumors about releases like Doom: The Dark Ages and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Microsoft has previously confirmed that they will release Xbox exclusives for Switch 2. The exact details are not known but this could potentially include titles like Diablo 4, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Call of Duty and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Sony only releases its games for PlayStation and select titles on PC.
