At its annual Tudum event, Netflix finally announced the premiere date for final season of Stranger Things, which will be released in 3 parts. Also on the way are titles like The Rip and season 2 of Wednesday.
Netflix has built global infrastructure for live streaming and sports, and so for the first time its Tudum presentation was streamed live in the Netflix app instead of on YouTube.
The company refers to it as its “biggest night of the year”, and Tudum has already become a major Hollywood event, featuring appearances by actors and filmmakers while offering viewers a preview of what is coming to Netflix. This year, Lady Gaga performed live on stage.
Stranger Things 5 split into 3 parts
Arguably Netflix's biggest TV success, Stranger Things, will conclude this year with a fifth season released in three parts.
Part one drops on November 26, 2025, part two on December 25, and the final episode on December 31 – all at 5:00 PM PT, which means a one-day shift in Europe, landing at 2:00 AM local time.
It is shaping up to be a major spectacle, as you can see in the teaser trailer below. Netflix' major releases are typically available in 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos.
At least two Stranger Things spin-offs are currently in development at Netflix.
New Knives Out and Frankenstein
The final season of another Netflix hit, Squid Game, premieres on June 27, 2025, and the trailer is out now.
At Tudum, Netflix also revealed the release date for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third entry in the Knives Out film franchise. It will begin streaming on December 12. Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein will debut in November and a teaser is embedded below.
Netflix also spotlighted season 2 of Wednesday, arriving in two parts on August 6 and September 3 this year, the thriller The Rip starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, premiering January 16, 2026, and Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2, coming July 25, 2025.
Back in full swing
The wave of big premieres shows that the world's biggest streaming service is not cutting back on content investment – unlike some competitors – and is fully back on track after the pandemic and Hollywood strikes.
Netflix now has over 300 million subscribers worldwide and at least twice as many viewers.
