Samsung's new 11.1.4ch flagship features a redesigned and smaller subwoofer, and for the first time supports Eclipsa Audio.
Samsung's HW-Q990F replaces last year's Q990D. It remains an 11.1.4-channel system with separate rear speakers and HDMI 2.1 passthrough. The subwoofer has been downsized to better fit in the living room, but now features dual 8-inch drivers.

HW-QS700F replaces last year's S710D and can automatically change mode using gyroscopic sensors depending on placement on a TV stand or wall. When rotated 90 degrees to fit closer to the wall, the sensor will ensure that upward-firing Atmos units still function as expected.
The new soundbars will compete with soundbars like Sonos Arc Ultra and Sonos Beam. They launch at a time when several TV maker have chosen not to refresh their soundbar line-ups, suggesting that soundbars may not be as hot as they once were. Some of Samsung's existing soundbars will carry over this year.
First soundbars with Eclipsa Audio
The two soundbars were unveiled in January at CES as the first to support Eclipsa Audio, a new spatial audio format that serves as an alternative to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, both of which are still supported.

We will have to wait a little longer for Eclipsa Audio, though, as it is scheduled to roll out later this year, starting on YouTube. Initially, it will also require a 2025 Samsung TV.
