Sales of Nintendo Switch 2 is breaking records globally and regionally, and has become the fastest-selling console ever, according to market analysts. Can it maintain the momentum?
Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5 in a number of countries. After just four days, over 3.5 million units had been sold worldwide, according to Nintendo's own figures.

Critics have also pointed to a modest launch line-up of games. However, Switch 2 is now powerful enough to run many PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series titles. Several of these are already being ported.
Switch 2 can be used in handheld mode or docked to a TV via HDMI, meaning it competes with traditional consoles, handheld consoles and smartphones.
The popularity of Switch and Switch 2 stands in stark contrast to the predecessor, Wii U, which launched in late 2012. Within just a few months, it was clear that the Wii U was a flop.
