First comes an upgraded version of Apple Vision Pro with an M5 chip, followed by glasses and 'Vision Air', according to the often-reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Apple considers head-worn devices to be the next major trend in consumer electronics, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, who is known for having reliable sources in the Asian supply chain.
He claims that Apple has at least seven projects in development: Three Vision products and four types of smart glasses. Five of these have a confirmed development timeline, while the remaining two are more experimental.
Roadmap and details
Ming-Chi Kuo claims to have such concrete details that he can present a roadmap. See the table below. According to him, 2027 will be the big year.
He says the next launch will be a minor upgrade of Apple Vision Pro later in 2025. The headset will reportedly get its processor upgraded from M2 to M5, but will otherwise remain mostly unchanged – still aimed at developers and early adopters.

In 2027, Apple aims to launch both Ray-Ban-like smart glasses and a 'Vision Air' that will be much lighter than Vision Pro and powered by an iPhone chip instead of the M-series. Vision Air is also expected to sell at a "significantly lower price point". In 2028, a second- generation Apple Vision Pro will follow, he claims.
Ming-Chi Kuo has for years leaked details about Apple's products and plans. He is considered relatively accurate, though he has occasional misses. The very specific details suggest that sources in the supply chain have let things slip. However, Kuo does not mention any developments in micro-OLED – the most crucial component in headsets.

The current Apple Vision Pro was launched in 2024 and is still only available in a handful of countries. FlatpanelsHD has shared our first impressions and the experience is very impressive, but the bulky design leaves a lot of room for improvement.
