Netflix will this summer add live broadcasts from the US space agency, NASA, so you can watch rocket launches and more.
The agreement was announced in a joint press release from NASA and Netflix.
- "Our Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience," said Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+. "Together, we’re committed to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration – inspiring new generations – right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone."
Live broadcasts from NASA+
NASA already produces TV programming and streams live TV about space travel and related topics – that will continue. This content can be found in the NASA+ app for Apple TV and FireTV.
The news this week is that NASA’s live broadcasts will now also be available on Netflix globally. This ensures that over 700 million people around the world can follow along on Netflix when NASA launches rockets or carries out missions. There will also be a live feed from the International Space Station (ISS).
Netflix said that the content will be streamed in HD resolution.
The live content from NASA will show up in the Netflix user interface alongside all the other content available on the streaming service.
