The first 500Hz QD-OLED monitors have arrived

14 Aug 2025 | Rasmus Larsen |

First unveiled at CES 2025 in January, the first 500Hz OLED monitor is now available, outpacing both 480Hz WOLED and, on paper, even faster LCD monitors.

You do not need to render all your PC games at 500fps, but you can if you own the first 500Hz QD-OLED monitor.

Even at lower frame rates, the monitor's ultra-fast 0.03ms response time delivers higher motion clarity than LCD monitors, even if these advertise higher higher refresh rates such as 600 or 700 Hz, which has to do with LCD's slower pixel response times. On top of that, you get significantly better picture quality, including HDR.

480Hz, 500Hz, 540Hz

The launch of the first 500Hz QD-OLED monitor follows the introduction of 480Hz WOLED monitors last year. WOLED is set to strike back with the first 540Hz and 'RGB Tandem' technology in a single monitor. Samsung is the first brand to offer one of the 500HZ QD-OLED monitors. Samsung's G60SF is built on the 27-inch 500Hz QD-OLED panel with 2560x1440 pixels in 16:9 aspect ratio from Samsung Display. It supports both AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync over HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4. It is DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified and delivers up to 1000 nits, according to Samsung.

More 500Hz monitors on the way

The G60SF joins Samsung's growing line-up of QD-OLED monitors – a market that is growing rapidly, according to market data. MSI's first 500Hz QD-OLED, the 272QP X50, is up for pre-order now in the US. Later this year, Acer, Asus and Gigabyte will also launch 500Hz QD-OLED monitors, all built on the same panel. AOC has teased the AG276QKD2 and ViewSonic the XG273E-2K.
