Sony is upgrading models such as the Bravia 2 and X7 series from Android 10/11 straight to Android 14. However, the more expensive models are not receiving the update at this time.
The new firmware update is targeted Sony TV models with Realtek chipsets. In other words, entry-level models from the past few years. A full list is included at the bottom.
Sony's more expensive TV ranges, including the OLED and miniLEDs, are powered by MediaTek chipsets, and these are currently not upgrading past Android 12. This will require a separate firmware, and Sony has not announced any plans for this.
New features in Android 14
Besides features such as Energy modes, Picture-in-Picture, and performance improvements in Android 14 for TVs, users are reporting various other features and tweaks. Sony has not yet published a changelog.
