'F1: The Movie' races to TVs at home today

22 Aug 2025 | Rasmus Larsen |

Apple's first theatrical triumph, F1 The Movie, is now streaming in your home theater with up to 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio.

In 2023, Apple Studios debuted its first theatrical features, including Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon.

Soon after, the theatrical strategy was abandoned due to poor theater attendance. Wolfs shifted directly to streaming, with only F1 The Movie's contract preserved for an international theatrical release.

F1 The Movie is a hit

Apple now celebrates its first theatrical success with F1 The Movie, which has raked in almost $600 million globally at the box office. What is next? This week’s PVOD premiere, 57 days post-theatrical release, answers that question,. The film is available as purchase and rental options through various movie stores with streaming in up to 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Apple has not yet disclosed how this success will influence its future theatrical plans, with no major global theatrical releases currently on the studio’s calendar.
