After abandoning movies on physical media last year, Best Buy has announced the return of DVDs, Blu-rays and Steelbook UHD Blu-rays through a new online marketplace.
Best Buy is expanding its offerings with a new online marketplace, doubling the number of products available on its platform. The marketplace sells items from third-party partners, operating similarly to Amazon's model.
- "With marketplace, we're able to give them not only more of the latest technology, but a massive new collection of products outside of the tech space so we can truly offer the full experience they need," said Frank Bedo, Chief marketplace and eCommerce officer, Best Buy.
Physical media coming back
The marketplace reintroduces physical movies to Best Buy's platform after their complete removal in 2024, which led to significant price increases.
- "(W)ith marketplace, movies are coming back to Best Buy’s assortment in a variety of formats like Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K SteelBook," confirmed Best Buy.
These DVDs and Blu-rays will be available exclusively through the online marketplace and are unlikely to return to Best Buy's physical stores.

While not a complete reversal, the move will make physical media more accessible in the US.
Last year, retailers like GameStop and Fred Meyer began selling UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD.
