Philips Google TV models from 2023 and 2024 are getting upgraded from Android 12 to Android 14, which already comes preinstalled on the new 2025 models.
The update was actually made available in late April, according to the Toengel blog, but only as a download file to be installed manually via USB stick.
Owners of the Philips models are now starting to see the new firmware pushed as an over-the-air update for automatic installation.
What's new Android 14
Android 14 is not a major release, despite Google skipping Android 13, but it still includes some handy features as well as performance, accessibility and security updates.
Google originally announced Android 14 with features such as Energy Modes and Picture-in-Picture support (not for video streaming apps). It also laid the groundwork for Google TV's new Home control panel.
Increasingly, new Google TV features are pushed directly via the cloud by Google, but compatibility can be determined by the Android version installed on the device.

Compatible Philips models
The Android 14 firmware is rolling out out to Philips' 2024 and 2023 Google TVs, and it is reassuring to see Philips follow through on its promise to update Google TV.
The company's 2025 models come preinstalled with Android 14, including the Philips OLED810 which FlatpanelsHD is currently testing. However, note that most of Philips' new TVs now run Titan OS instead of Google TV.
Sony has also started rolling out Android 14. Google has updated the Chromecast.
A full list of compatible models is included in the table.
