TCL is taking on Samsung with a new Nxtvision TV that features miniLED. This time with true zone dimming, unlike Samsung's The Frame Pro, which uses edge-lit miniLED.
TCL already competes with Samsung's popular The Frame through its Nxtvision (previously Nxtframe) A300 range of TVs.
Like The Frame, TCL's version uses a matte LCD panel that can display artwork when the TV is not in active use.
miniLED vs. edge-lit miniLED
The upcoming Nxtvision A400 Pro is a higher-end model positioned to compete directly with Samsung's premium The Frame Pro introduced earlier this year.
While The Frame Pro is marketed as miniLED, it is important to understand that it is an edge-lit variant – essentially an evolution of standard edge-lit LED in cheap LCD TVs. With edge-lit miniLED, there are virtually no local dimming zones, so picture quality sees little improvement other than slightly higher brightness.
TCL's A400 Pro will be different as it employs miniLED with local dimming as well as quantum dots, bringing it closer to high-end LCD TV models. Despite zone dimming, it remains relatively slim at 4 to 4.5 centimeters in depth. The number of dimming zones was not disclosed.

TCL has fewer artworks
The main drawback of TCL's Nxtvision compared to Samsung The Frame is the size of the art catalog. Samsung claims over 4000 artworks from major museums and institutions, while TCL currently offers over 100.
TCL is working to expand its artwork collection, it previously told FlatpanelsHD, and with the launch of an upgraded 2026 model the company signals that it is committed to its Nxtvision lineup.
The TV also supports 144Hz (and 288Hz at half resolution), HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM and WiFi 6. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and features Onkyo speakers. It is currently unclear whether TCL is ending its audio partnership with B&O, which co-designed the speaker system in the current Nxtvision Pro model.
TCL's A400 Pro will be available in 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98 inches, initially in China and likely America and Europe next year. We expect to hear more from TCL in January at CES 2026.
