Samsung will make LCD TVs with RGB LED backlights more accessible in 2026 with the launch of an expanded lineup starting at 55 inches.
The new LCD TVs were announced ahead of CES 2026 as an advancement over the company's current 'Neo QLED' miniLED LCD TVs. They will compete with OLED TVs in the high-end segment.
Like LG, Samsung will market these enhanced LCD TVs as 'Micro RGB' but expect them to also show up under other marketing names in 2026. A quick reminder that this has nothing to do with Samsung's own – extremely expensive – Micro-LED TVs, which use a novel display technology without an LCD panel.
100% BT.2020 color
With individual red, green and blue (RGB) LEDs behind the LCD panel, the TVs can deliver a wider color gamut than miniLED LCD TVs. Samsung claims 100% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut, certified by VDE.
LG is also claiming 100% BT.2020. In other words the full color gamut defined under the HDR standards. Independent testing will be required to verify these claims. Hisense, TCL and Sony are expected to announce RGB LED LCD models soon.
Samsung said that the TVs are equipped with a 'Micro RGB AI Engine Pro' processor. They also feature LED local dimming, but Samsung generally declines to specify the number of dimming zones, as it has fallen behind Chinese competitors in this area.

Glare-free panels and Eclipsa Audio
The TVs will feature a glare-free coating to reduce reflections in bright rooms. They use LCD panels with 4K resolution and come with a streamlined design and tabletop stand.
In addition, all 2026 Samsung TVs will feature Eclipsa Audio, which is Samsung and Google's answer to Dolby Atmos. The TVs will also support Dolby Atmos, as well as Samsung audio systems designed to integrate TV audio with external audio products such as soundbars.
The latest version of Samsung's Tizen platform will include an AI-enabled version of the Bixby voice assistant, reportedly powered by Perplexity. Bixby can recommend content, provide live translation and more.
Further details will be provided at CES 2026 in Las Vegas in early January, but Samsung is seemingly planning to roll out three MR95H, MR90H and MR85H ranges with RGB LED in 2026. Last year's 115" model will continue, with Samsung adding 55, 65, 75, 85 and 100" sizes in 2026. At CES 2026, Samsung will also unveil its flagship OLED TVs. FlatpanelsHD will return with more details.
