LG announces first 39" 5K2K OLED & 52" 5K2K LCD monitors

29 Dec 2025 | Rasmus Larsen |

In 2026, LG will launch the first 39-inch OLED monitor with 5K2K resolution. It will also launch 27-inch 5K miniLED LCD and 52-inch 5K2K LCD monitors.

The monitors were revealed in a pre-CES announcement, with plans to showcase them at CES 2026 next month.

In addition, LG said it will officially launch at CES the previously announced 27GX790B with 540Hz / 720Hz support in global markets.

39" 5K2K OLED

The new 39-inch 39GX950B, which is part of LG's GX9 series, is an OLED gaming monitor with a 0.03ms response time and 5120×2160 resolution, also known as 5K2K. It has roughly the same pixel density (approx. 140ppi) as a 32-inch 4K panel. It is based on the new 'Tandem WOLED' panel from display maker LG Display, specifically a brighter 'Primary RGB Tandem 2.0' with an extra white subpixel (RGWB). It features a 1500R curvature in a 21:9 aspect ratio. It supports 165Hz at 5K2K resolution or 330Hz at 2560×1080.

There is no word on pricing yet, but as the panel is now entering mass production at LG Display, expect to see more 39-inch 5K2K OLED monitors from other brands in the near future. LG said that its version features '5K AI Upscaling' technology via an on-device chip. LG Electronics has not yet announced any monitors based on LG Display's first RGB stripe OLED panel.

5K2K LCD monitors

In addition, LG Electronics announced the first 52-inch 5K2K LCD monitor (52G930B), which will be part of its G9 series. It is an LCD monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, albeit with a much slower response time than the OLED monitors. - "The massive screen features the vertical viewing height of a standard 42-inch 16:9 display, stretching horizontally for an expansive 12:9 panoramic view. This form factor provides a workspace 33 percent wider than a standard UHD monitor. A 1000R curvature encloses the user’s peripheral vision for seamless immersion," said LG Electronics.

Lastly, LG introduced the GM9 (27GM950B), a 27-inch LCD monitor with 5K resolution and a miniLED backlight featuring 2,304 local dimming zones and "Zero Optical Distance engineering that minimizes the gap between the panel and the LEDs". The 27GM950B supports 165Hz at 5K resolution or 330Hz at QHD resolution. It is targeted at gaming, but with a 1ms best-case-scenario response time, it is at least 33 times slower than LG's OLED gaming monitors – and more likely around 50x slower.
