TCL's first LCD TVs with RGB miniLED reach 115"

09 Jan 2026 | Rasmus Larsen |

TCL's first LCD TVs with RGB LED backlighting will be known as RM9L in 85, 98 and a massive 115 inches with up to 9000 nits and 100% BT.2020 color.

The Chinese TV maker will not use RGB LED in its 2026 flagship X11L, opting instead for miniLED with so-called 'super quantum dots', which are said to deliver several advantages over RGB LED while offering similar color performance.

Instead, RGB LED will be positioned one step down, though still as high-end a LCD model with RM9L, according to What HiFi. At CES 2026, the model was also referred to as C9L, as it succeeds last year's C9K, but it appears that TCL Europe may retain the American RM9L naming. In China, it is called Q10M Ultra.

Up to 9000 nits and 100% BT.2020

RM9L will be available in 85, 98 and 115 inches. TCL claims up to 9000 nits peak brightness, 100% BT.2020 color coverage and 8,736, 11,520, and 16,848 dimming zones, respectively. Increasing the number of dimming zones with RGB LED is challenging, as each red, green and blue LED must be controlled individually within each zone, requiring lots of processing power and more advanced circuitry. 98RM9L has notably fewer dimming zones than the flagship 98X11L with 11,520 and 20,736, respectively. It will support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. TCL has yet to announce plans for a 130-inch LCD TV like Samsung.

More 'super quantum dot' models

In addition, TCL is bringing the 'super quantum dots' technology from its flagship X11L to this year's 8- and 7-series QM8L and QM7L, which will replace last year's QM8K and QM7K, according to Tom's Guide. These are the American model numbers, with the TVs likely to be marketed as C8L and C7L in Europe, but otherwise more or less identical. Dolby has confirmed that these will support Dolby Vision 2. Not much else is known about these TVs yet, but we expect them to offer 4K resolution, Google TV, and thousands of miniLED dimming zones. Being "super", they are also expected to deliver high coverage of the BT.2020 color space for HDR. A QM6L model (likely C6L in Europe) was also confirmed as a budget miniLED LCD TV. It will replace last year's QM6K / C6K, which was available in sizes up to 98 inches. TCL's full 2026 lineup will be announced later this year. More details will follow as they become available. - Source: What HiFi, Tom's Guide
