Disney announces 2026 series and movie slate

You can look forward to more Marvel and Star Wars. Scrubs returns after 16 years, while Toy Story and The Bear each get a fifth chapter. Here are Disney's 2026 plans.

Earlier this month, Netflix revealed its massive slate of movies and series, and FlatpanelsHD recently outlined the 2026 film year.

Now it's Disney's turn. The studio has announced a plan for both theatrical releases and new titles on the Disney+ streaming service. Note that regional differences may apply.


Disney's new series in 2026
Marvel's superheroes will get plenty of screen time this year. Wonder Man premieres today, and in March Daredevil: Born Again returns with season 2. Later in the year comes Vision Quest, a spin-off of WandaVision.

Disney favorites The Bear (season 5) and Only Murders in the Building (season 6) are also returning. Exact premiere dates have not yet been announced, but both are expected later this year.

Another notable highlight is the return of Scrubs and Malcolm in the Middle, both coming back to screens in 2026. Family Guy and Futurama also continue with seasons 24 and 14, respectively.


Disney's 2026 theatrical releases
Disney enjoyed its strongest box office year since 2019 in 2025 – before the pandemic – somewhat unexpectedly driven by Zootopia 2 and Lilo & Stitch.

In 2026, one of the major bets is Avengers: Doomsday, which will however not premiere until December. Before that, audiences can expect Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu, based on the series, and the sci-fi film The Dog Stars directed by Ridley Scott.

Other big releases include Toy Story 5 and a live-action adaptation of Moana.

They will later be available for rental/purchase and eventually on Disney+, but dates have not yet been confirmed. Avengers: Doomsday, however, is not expected to arrive on Disney+ until the first quarter of 2027.


New titles beyond 2026
Disney also offered a glimpse of what lies beyond 2026. This includes second seasons of Alien: Earth, Shōgun, All's Fair and The Lowdown.

Disney is working on a reimagining of Power Rangers as a TV series. It is not on the list we received, but rumors suggest it will arrive no earlier than 2027.
