OLED monitor sales to nearly quintuple by 2030, forecast predicts

29 Jan 2026 | Rasmus Larsen |

The OLED PC monitor market is one of the fastest-growing display segments, driven by a major leap in picture quality. UBI Research predicts a 4-5x increase by 2030.

For nearly two decades, LCD technology has defined our monitors, tablets and laptops, even as a transition to OLED has been underway for years in smartphones and TVs.

Despite larger monitors with higher resolution and refresh rates, the past 10-15 years have largely been stagnant. We are left with low-contrast LCD monitors incapable of displaying HDR. This has held back progress in video, photography and not least operating systems' support for HDR.

15 million annually by 2030

The transition from LCD to OLED in monitors began in earnest in 2023, and the pace is expected to pick up significantly in the coming years, according to several market research firms. UBI Research estimates that around 3.2 million OLED monitors were sold worldwide in 2025 – a 64% increase from 2024. Sales are expected to reach 5 million units annually in 2026 and climb to 15 million by 2030 – a nearly a fivefold increase from 2025.

Korean and Chinese panels

Today, LG Display produces WOLED panels, while Samsung Display produces QD-OLED, which currently leads the monitor market. TCL CSOT and several other Chinese companies are currently building large-scale OLED manufacturing facilities. - "Not only Korean companies but also Chinese panel makers are actively entering the OLED monitor market with their own technologies, and the OLED monitor segment is expected to continue growing as applications expand across gaming, creator, and premium IT devices," said Changwook Han, VP at UBI Research. Not just gaming monitors

So far, OLED monitors have primarily targeted gamers, but in 2026 new models will arrive aimed at graphic and video editing, general media consumption and office work, including text editing. This shift is driven in part by a move to RGB subpixel structures in both WOLED and QD-OLED. FlatpanelsHD has published an overview of OLED monitors launching in 2026. The list, which can be found here, will be updated as additional models are announced.
