One of the greatest TV shows of all time is being revived once more, 8 years after its last comeback. This time with the man behind Creed, Sinners and Black Panther at the helm.
The first episodes of The X-Files aired in 1993. After 9 seasons, it concluded in 2001. The show's popularity led to two movies: The X-Files in 1998 and The X-Files: I Want to Believe in 2008.
The X-Files was revived in 2016 with 2 additional seasons featuring Mulder and Scully, but the comeback did not become the success many had hoped for.
Ryan Coogler revives it
Now the sci-fi series is returning once again. Disney-owned Hulu has confirmed that it will stream the series, starting with a pilot episode. No release date has been announced.
The series will be written and directed by Ryan Coogler, the filmmaker behind Sinners, Creed and Black Panther, according to several Hollywood media outlets.
- "Like my relationship with ‘Rocky’ with my dad, ‘The X-Files’ is one of those things with my mom," Ryan Coogler told Variety. "My mom means the world to me so this is a big one for me. I want to do right by her and the fans. My mom has read some of the stuff I wrote for it. She's fired up."

The news will likely excite fans who grew up watching The X-Files during the era of broadcast television. The series remains among the highest-rated on IMDb with a score of 8.6.
Filming is confirmed to begin in May in Vancouver, Canada, which was also the original production location.
Fans will have to wait for further details. Neither David Duchovny (Mulder) nor Gillian Anderson (Scully) are currently confirmed to be involved in the project. Only Danielle Deadwyler has been confirmed as one of the co-leads. Chris Carter, the original creator, is attached as an executive producer.
