AmbiScape lets you wirelessly extend Philips' Ambilight mood lighting – or bias lighting – to up to four Philips Hue, Wiz, NanoLead or IKEA lamps at home.
After dropping Philips Hue integration in 2023, Philips is bringing it back in a new, extended form that is no longer limited to just Hue, although it is limited to just four lights initially. It is built on Matter (WiFi, not Thread).
- "The new AmbiScape feature will extend the Ambilight effect even further into the room by allowing the Philips TV to control up to four external lights – initially E27 smart bulbs from the Wiz, NanoLeaf, Hue and Ikea ranges, but with more to follow – mirroring the performance of Ambilight with a latency of less than 0.5 second," announced Philips.
Mood or bias lighting
AmbiScape will be available on all 2026 Philips Ambilight TVs from the 8-series and up, including the 2026 OLED models. It was trialed on a few 2025 models in late 2025, but the company did not confirm if older models will get the final version – we are chasing info.
The company explained that AmbiScape can be activated from the remote control or the Ambilight menu in the TV settings. It can be set to bias or mood lighting with video or music modes. It is said to be easy to pair bulbs via an onscreen QR code, although we will have to verify all this later.
Any combination of bulbs from the four partners can be paired wirelessly, added Philips. AmbiScape will also be added to the Philips Smart TV app.

Ambilight very popular, says Philips
Philips said that over 35 million TVs with Ambilight have been sold to date, with 80% of customers saying that their next TV should have Ambilight too, according to a survey by Philips.
- "We have been receiving a lot of feedback from Philips Ambilight TV customers that they would like any easy way to extend the immersive effect of the Ambilight system further into their room. The AmbiScape feature provides that solution but also allows the consumer the freedom to choose from a wider selection of compatible smart bulb brands. It is proof of how we continue to improve Ambilight to ensure the system remains the true distinctive feature in the premium TV market, and even after 22 years, continues to grow in popularity," said Anette van Dijk, Head of Marketing Europe for Philips TV,
AmbiScape is the latest expansion of Ambilight, which has also gained features like Lounge, Music and Game modes in recent years. AmbiScape will also come to Philips Evnia gaming monitors.
AmbiScape will be demonstrated for the first time during Philips' 2026 launch event in Berlin this week.
