Starting April 19, Meta's Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets will get more expensive worldwide, as the company says it is forced to react to rising memory component costs.
The new prices are:
- Meta Quest 3S (128GB): $300 to $350
- Meta Quest 3S (256GB): $400 to $450
- Meta Quest 3 (512GB): $500 to $600

"We're making this change because the cost of building high-performance VR hardware has risen significantly. The global surge in the price of critical components — specifically memory chips — is impacting almost every category of consumer electronics, including VR. To keep delivering the quality of hardware, software, and support you expect from the Quest platform, we need to adjust our pricing," said Meta.

Valve has
delayed the launch of its Steam Frame VR headset but Apple, Sony and Samsung held the prices of their respective headsets steady – at least so far.
The Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S are each fitted with 8GB of DDR5 RAM. Both use low-cost, low-resolution LCD panels.
Meta reiterated that it "remains committed to investing in VR and leading the category because we believe this is the future of computing".
