QD-OLED TVs are currently available in sizes up to 77 inches, but an 83-inch panel could be imminent as Samsung Display has apparently submitted it for certification.
The 83-inch QD-OLED panel is listed in UL Solutions' database after Samsung Display – the maker of all QD-OLED panels – submitted its latest panels for "QuantumView" verification, as spotted by user Fury on X (link).
- "The entire QD-OLED lineup was successfully evaluated, maintaining over 60% luminance even at a 60-degree viewing angle, while demonstrating minimal color shift of less than 0.012 Δu’v’ (Delta u’v’). This ensures consistent image quality across a wide range of applications, from TVs to dual monitors and professional reference displays," Samsung Display said in a press release earlier this week commenting on UL Solutions' certification.
24 to 83-inch QD-OLED
Specifically, UL Solutions' database lists "QDOLED24.x, QDOLED27.x, QDOLED31.x, QDOLED34.x, QDOLED49.x, QDOLED55.x, QDOLED65.x, QDOLED77.x, QDOLED83.x" (emphasis ours). Notably, it also mentions the rumored 24-inch QD-OLED panel.
This is not the first time an 83-inch QD-OLED panel has been rumored, but it is worth noting that the previous rumor originated from Samsung's parts database. That model ultimately turned out to be the 83-inch S95F, which uses a WOLED panel produced by LG Display.
This time, Samsung Display itself has submitted its full QD-OLED lineup, including 24- and 83-inch panels, for certification.
Neither Samsung nor Sony has announced 83-inch QD-OLED TVs for 2026, but it cannot be ruled out that Samsung will extend the TV panel lottery to this size. Alternatively, an 83-inch QD-OLED panel could emerge in 2027 or 2028.
