Amazon Fire TVs will henceforth be known as Amazon Ember TVs, as the company has rebranded not only its 'Artline' model but also the rest of its TV lineup.
Originally launched as Fire TV Edition, Amazon's naming scheme has always been somewhat confusing, as "Fire TV" also refers to the company's TV platform.
It worked well enough for Fire TV Sticks, but felt a bit awkward for Fire TV... TVs.
Rebranded as Ember TVs
With the shift to Ember TVs, Amazon is trying to clear up that confusion.
- "As announced earlier this year, Amazon's full smart TV lineup is becoming Amazon Ember –a family of TVs built around beautiful design and intelligent software," confirmed Amazon.
The company now offers the art-focused Ember Artline alongside existing models, which are now called Ember 2-Series, Ember 4-Series and Ember QLED Series. The change is already reflected on Amazon's shopping portal.
Amazon is also making changes to its sticks and media players, transitioning from the Android-based Fire OS to its own Linux-based Vega OS.
