The critically acclaimed Project Hail Mary is now available to watch at home in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary has become an unexpectedly big success in theaters worldwide, grossing nearly as much as Dune: Part Two ($658 million vs. $715 million) – it is still playing.
It stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace on a solitary mission aboard a spaceship. It is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir, who also wrote The Martian.
Many have called Project Hail Mary a contender for sci-fi movie of the year, though 2026 still has several major releases ahead, including Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, Dune: Part Three, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu and Ridley Scott's The Dog Stars.

Now available at home
After 54 days in theaters, Project Hail Mary is now available for home viewing in 4K and HDR with an expanded brightness and color range in HDR, which almost no cinemas can present. The film has been praised for its visual effects.

It is also in Dolby Atmos.
Project Hail Mary was created with some scenes in an expanded 1.78:1 IMAX aspect ratio. These scenes are also included in the Apple TV version. We have not yet been able to confirm if other movie storefronts offer the expanded version, too.
MGM, now owned by Amazon, has released it as PVOD (premium video-on-demand), meaning an early home release at a premium price. It will later be available to buy and rent at regular pricing. It remains unclear whether it will eventually be added to Prime Video's subscription library.
