LG's 25G590B is the world's first 1000Hz monitor with 1080p resolution, up from 720p resolution in the first 1000Hz monitors.
We got the first 1000Hz monitors in December 2025 from AOC and Philips, followed shortly after by Acer, and Samsung with a 1040Hz monitor.
These are 1440p monitors with a native 500Hz or 600Hz refresh rate plus a dual-mode option to push 1000Hz at half resolution (720p).
First 1000Hz 1080p monitor
LG Electronics has now announced 25G590B, the first monitor to combine 1080p resolution with a native 1000Hz refresh rate. 1080p feels more reasonable than 720p in 2026, but be aware that the 25-inch monitor uses an IPS LCD panel.
It is LG's fastest monitor on paper, but OLED delivers motion clarity comparable to LCD with 1.5-2x higher refresh rates. That means today's 720Hz OLED monitors, including LG's own, still outperform 1000Hz LCD in motion clarity. However, they are typically also more expensive.
LG says that 25G590B also features Motion Blur Reduction Pro, which sounds like an overdrive system to speed up the relative slow LCD pixels, as well as AI picture enhancement systems. It will launch in the second half of 2026, with pricing and full specifications to be confirmed.

The 1000Hz milestone
While extreme refresh rates are still debated in some circles, Blur Busters years ago laid out convincing arguments for 1000Hz and beyond for sample-and-hold displays like LCD and OLED.
In 2020, the industry expected to reach the 1000Hz milestone by 2030, so we are significantly ahead of schedule, likely driven by renewed competition in the gaming monitor market following the arrival of WOLED and QD-OLED. LCD's last stand in gaming monitors appears to be pushing to ever-higher refresh rates.
- "This is a defining moment for gaming monitors. By delivering the world’s first native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitor, LG has established a new performance benchmark for competitive gaming," said Lee Choong-hwoan, head of Display Business, LG.
