Alexa's enhanced voice assistant is now also available on Fire TV devices outside the US, as availability has officially expanded to the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada and Mexico.
Alexa+ can be used for content recommendations and TV control through natural-language requests and follow-up questions.
- "Alexa+ is an awesome way to get to and discover content quickly – and customers are loving it. Since launching in the U.S., they're talking to Alexa+ on Fire TV 2.5x more than they did with the original Alexa. And the way they're using it has shifted – pulling up their Ring camera, asking 'who is that actor?' mid-movie, having real back-and-forth conversations. That's exactly what we designed for. Excited to bring this to more customers around the world," said Aidan Marcuss, VP of Fire TV, Advertising and Appstore.

The new voice assistants
Alexa+ is part of a new wave of improved voice assistants coming to TVs. Google is currently rolling out Gemini, Samsung has upgraded Bixby, and Apple is preparing to launch an enhanced Siri.
Alexa+ requires either a Prime membership or an Alexa+ subscription.
It is compatible with newer Fire TV players and Amazon Amber TVs as part of the revamped Fire TV user interface. According to Amazon, it is not compatible with devices running FireOS 5.
