LG Display starts mass production of first RGB-stripe OLED monitor panel

30 May 2026 | Rasmus Larsen |

The first WOLED monitor panel with an RGB-stripe pixel layout for improved text rendering and graphics is now in mass production, ahead of a wider rollout to more panels later.

The 27-inch WOLED panel with 4K resolution, 1000 nits peak brightness and 240Hz – or 480Hz at 1080p – was first unveiled in December 2025, ahead of CES in January.

It finally brings RGB-stripe pixel layouts to OLED panels – there is no longer an extra white sub-pixel – ahead of TCL CSOT's introduction of printed RGB OLED panels later in 2026 and 2027. Samsung Display is also switching to RGB-stripe pixels in its latest QD-OLED panels.

- "RGB Stripe OLED features a structure in which red, green, and blue (RGB) subpixels are arranged in a linear stripe, enabling clearer rendering of small text and numbers compared to conventional displays. This reduces eye strain and provides a more comfortable viewing experience during prolonged use, such as document work, stock and financial trading, coding, and content editing," said LG Display.

Mass production starts now

While Samsung Display will commence mass production of RGB-stripe QD-OLED in the second half of 2026, LG Display is starting now. - "The world's first commercialization of 240Hz RGB Stripe OLED demonstrates the strength of OLED as a culmination of advanced display technologies," said Hyeon-woo Lee, Head Large Display, LG Display. "As a technology-driven company, we will accelerate the expansion of OLED in the1monitor market and steer the premium segment based on our technological leadership and business competitiveness." LG Display’s announcement comes ahead of Computex in Taiwan next week, which may bring news on more RGB-stripe OLED panels. So far, the Asus PG27UCWM is the only confirmed monitor to use this new 27-inch WOLED panel.

More RGB-stripe WOLED panels later

LG Display added that it has prioritized the 27-inch panel due to demand. It will later bring RGB-stripe pixels to other OLED panels, starting with high-end models as it looks to accelerate the shift from LCD to OLED in monitors. - "In collaboration with leading global monitor brands, LG Display is beginning mass production of the 240Hz RGB Stripe OLED panel in a 27-inch size, for which demand is highest, before a planned gradual expansion of its lineup," it said.
