Lionsgate finally joins Movies Anywhere

03 Jun 2026 | Rasmus Larsen |

Lionsgate is finally letting consumers sync their movies across digital VOD services via Movies Anywhere, following in the footsteps of Disney, Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Bros.

Movies Anywhere syncs your purchased movies across linked digital VOD stores, such as Apple TV, Amazon and Fandango (Vudu), while also allowing you to stream from the Movies Anywhere app. In up to 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

It also lets you redeem digital codes from physical discs, such as UHD Blu-ray, so your films appear digitally in one shared library. However, this only applies to films from studios participating in the Movies Anywhere initiative, which launched in 2017.

Lionsgate joins Movies Anywhere

Disney, 20th Century Fox (now part of Disney), Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Bros have been part of Movies Anywhere since the beginning. With Lionsgate finally joining, Paramount Pictures and Amazon-owned MGM remain the last two major holdouts. However, it remains to be seen what happens after Paramount takes over Warner Bros.

Lionsgate plans to start adding its library to Movies Anywhere this month, according to Deadline, beginning with 225 titles including Django Unchained, Kill Bill, The Hunger Games, John Wick, Now You See Me, La La Land, Rambo and Dirty Dancing. Approximately 100 additional films will be added each month through early 2027. Integration will begin with Michael, which will redeem on Movies Anywhere upon its home entertainment release. - "We’re excited to join forces with Lionsgate to bring their new releases and library titles to Movies Anywhere," said Karin Gilford, GM of Movies Anywhere. "With the addition of the studio’s expansive and impressive slate, our users can grow their digital movie collections and continue to enjoy the films they love wherever and whenever they want."

Close to 10000 films

With the addition of Lionsgate, Movies Anywhere will offer close to 10000 films. The service remains available only in the US, where it has 14.5 million users. There have been no indications or rumors of an international rollout. - Source: Deadline, Movies Anywhere
