OLED technology is advancing rapidly and LG Display is this week showcasing some of its next-gen OLED panels, including a 27-inch 5K model and black frame insertion (BFI) technology.
First, LG Display confirmed that it is the supplier of the first 25-inch WOLED panel debuting in the Asus XG259QWPG Ace. It is expected to be followed by the first 24-inch QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display next year.
LG Display also highlighted its new 27-inch and 32-inch WOLED panels with RGB-stripe pixels for the first time, both with 4K resolution. See our list of all the new OLED monitors unveiled at Computex 2026.

27-inch 5K WOLED
At a roadshow held to coincide with Computex, LG Display showcased the first 27-inch WOLED panel with 5K resolution (5120x2880 pixels) for a pixel density of 220 ppi. It uses RGB-stripe pixels, too, and has a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits peak brightness, and 250 nits fullscreen brightness.
The company said it is "optimized not only for gaming but also for professional workflows such as photo editing, video production, graphic design", adding that it provides "print-level detail". However, it is still unclear when it will reach actual consumer monitors.

Samsung Display showcased a 27-inch 5K QD-OLED panel in 2025, but it is also not yet available in any consumer monitors.
With both leading OLED panel makers demonstrating such panels, it is clear that ultra high-resolution OLED monitors are getting closer – something currently reserved for LCD monitors.
BFI in OLED displays
Some OLED TVs and monitors feature BFI (black frame insertion), which reduces motion blur by inserting a black frame between real frames to effectively "reset" the eye. However, at low refresh rates BFI introduces significant flicker, as seen on all OLED TVs today.
In the past, LG offered a native higher-frequency 120Hz BFI mode in some OLED TVs, but this feature was later discontinued.
LG Display has not abandoned BFI and is working on the technology for OLED monitor panels, as evidenced by a 27-inch 1440p next-generation WOLED panel shown at the roadshow, saying it can "overcome graphics card limitations". However, at this time, it is not clear when or if it will emerge in actual products; for once, it requires very high brightness levels.
