With its new HR7 range of Google TVs, Sharp adds HDMI 2.1 support, enabling up to 120Hz or 144Hz gaming when connected to a game console or PC.
In recent years, Sharp has established a stronger presence in Europe with its Google TV lineup. The TVs are often available at attractive prices through major electronics retailers.
With the HR7 range, Sharp takes a step up from previous TV ranges such as the HP6, HP5 and GL4. They are available in Europe in sizes from 43 to 65 inches.

Sharp's Google TV lineup also helps fill a gap in Europe after Philips abandoned Google TV in favor of Titan OS, and the company behind Thomson filed for bankruptcy. Google TV supports all major streaming apps.
HDMI 2.1 has become a standard feature in high-end TVs and it is also now increasingly making its way into the mid-range segment. Sharp's HR7 features two HDMI 2.1 ports also with eARC, ALLM (Automatic Low Latency Mode), and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), which is supported by modern game consoles.
The HDMI 2.1 ports allow game consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X to output games at up to 4K120 – an upgrade over the 4K60 limit of HDMI 2.0 found in entry-level and many mid-range TVs.
On the other hand, Sharp's HR7 lacks miniLED local dimming required for High Dynamic Range (HDR) pictures.
