Like Philips, Sharp will begin selling TVs across Europe powered by the European-developed Titan OS smart TV platform.
Titan OS is best known as the operating system found in newer Philips Smart TVs, after Philips abandoned Google TV in favor of Titan OS.
Sharp is now joining the party as well.
- "This partnership with Sharp marks a significant milestone in our journey," said Jacinto Roca, founder and CEO of Titan OS.
A European smart TV platform
Developed in Barcelona, Spain, Titan OS now supports most major international streaming services, with the latest addition being the Apple TV app. It also offers select regional and local streaming apps, although with some gaps in its catalog. The company tells Flatpanels that it is working to expand support.
Titan OS also includes cloud gaming support and other smart TV features. You can watch Flatpanels' video from the platform's 2024 launch here.

Sharp not fully abandoning Google TV
In the joint announcement, Sharp and Titan OS said that the agreement also includes cooperation on manufacturing. Like Google TV, LG's webOS and Samsung's Tizen, Titan OS is financed through ads shown on the homescreen.

Unlike Philips, Sharp will continue to offer Google TV in some models for the time being, while Titan OS will power other new models. The specific product lineup has not yet been announced.
"Sharp currently works with several TV OS partners. Titan OS is being introduced as a new alternative within that mix, and our ambition is to grow volumes as the partnership develops over time," Witalis Korecki, CEO of Sharp Consumer Electronics Europe, told Flatpanels.
Titan OS also powers some TVs from AOC and JVC.
