As sci-fi fans, we are looking forward to new episodes of Silo and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as well as films such as Disclosure Day and The Dog Stars. We are also looking ahead to autumn and winter.
Despite Hollywood's growing tendency to rely on sequels and safe bets, we are still getting original sci-fi films and series, along with ambitious sci-fi productions that span multiple years or seasons.
So far this year, we have had Project Hail Mary, which you can watch at home now, as well as Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu and Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day.
Sci-fi movies this summer
The Mandalorian & Grogu and Disclosure Day will soon arrive in home cinemas around the world. The surprise hit Backrooms, a sci-fi horror film, is also on its way.
After that, you can look forward to the theatrical release of Ridley Scott's sci-fi film The Dog Stars from Disney's 20th Century Studios. The film opens in cinemas on August 28.

Sci-fi series this summer
If you have just finished watching season 5 of For All Mankind and Star City, you can now dive into season 3 of Silo, which has new episodes weekly, followed shortly by season 2 of Dark Matter.
Both are available on Apple TV, which has embraced expensive, epic sci-fi productions, all in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. In a relatively short time, Apple TV has also given us Severance, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Foundation, Murderbot and Pluribus.
From Paramount comes season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, premiering toward the end of July with weekly episodes on Paramount+ and SkyShowtime.

More sci-fi later in 2026
There is more sci-fi to look forward to after the summer. Most notably, many fans are eagerly awaiting Dune: Part 3, which premieres in cinemas on December 18, 2026, which is the same day as Avengers: Doomsday.
Before then, J.J. Abrams' The Great Beyond (November 14) and a new chapter in The Hunger Games franchise, Sunrise on the Reaping (November 20), will arrive in cinemas.
Lastly, we finally have a teaser for the long-awaited series adaptation of William Gibson's cyberpunk novel Neuromancer. No premiere date has been announced, but with the teaser dropping many believe season 1 will debut on Apple TV later in 2026.
