Samsung's The Frame is facing renewed competition this year from TCL – as well as LG and Hisense – with TCL launching not one, not two, but three new Nxtvision TV ranges.
The Nxtvision Pro (A400 Pro) was unveiled in December, but TCL is also offering the A400U and A400 in 2026.
These will replace last year's Nxtvision A300 (née Nxtframe), which was TCL's first competitor to Samsung's popular The Frame models.
miniLED with up to 1344 zones
A400 Pro and A400U are the most interesting models, as they feature miniLED with up to 1344 dimming zones. In other words, they should no longer suffer from significantly compromised picture quality. In fact, they are now capable of delivering HDR pictures.
Like Samsung's The Frame, TCL's Nxtvision TVs are designed to be used as digital photo frames when not in use. An Art Gallery feature provides access to a collection of artwork from both well-known and lesser-known artists, including AI-generated art and ambient scenes with video and audio, according to TCL.
A400 Pro is designed for design-conscious living spaces, featuring a matte display coating, whereas A400U has a more traditional TV look but comes with an ultra-slim wall bracket solution that TCL calls "wallpaper". A400U does not feature the same matte coating and offers up to 2500 nits peak brightness and 1344 miniLED dimming zones – more than many conventional TVs.

Up to 98 inches
TCL has not gone all out with a 115-inch version – at least not yet – but all three new Nxtvision ranges will be available in sizes up to 98 inches.
While TCL's display technology surpasses Samsung's The Frame Pro (no zone dimming, only edge-lit miniLED), it does not yet match the breadth of well-known artworks, as Samsung has had a head start securing licensing deals with museums and institutions. TCL is currently highlighting works by Vincent van Gogh and Georges Seurat.
The TVs will also include features such as 144Hz, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, Onkyo speakers, Google TV, Filmmaker Mode, and HDMI 2.1 with support for 4K120 and VRR for gaming. They are not compatible with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, but do support Dolby Atmos. More details will soon be available in the TV Database.
