LG – the OLED brand – is now also offering the new generation of LCD TVs. RGB LED expands the color gamut, but there are significant differences between 'micro' and 'mini' in LG's lineup.
MRGB95B (also known as MRGB96B), MRGB9M and MRGB85B (also known as MRGB86B, MRGB87B and MRGB88B) were unveiled in December 2025.
Half a year later, they are now becoming available in North America, Europa and other regions.
Micro RGB and mini RGB
Unlike some competitors, LG is not positioning its 'micro RGB' LCD TVs as its flagship products. The best picture quality is still found in OLED TVs, according to LG.
LG also divides its models into 'micro RGB' in MRGB95B – like Samsung – and 'mini RGB' in MRGB9M and MRGB85B. The former uses true RGB with red, green and blue LEDs behind the LCD panel, while 'mini' lacks a red LED. Red is instead created through filtering. This is the type of alternative RGB LED backlight Sony refers to when calling its own top models 'True RGB'.
- "Unlike "Micro" RGB TVs, "Mini" RGB TVs do not include R chip LEDs, nor do their chips operate independently," LG Korea stated.
According to FlatpanelsHD' information, only 'micro RGB' features zone dimming while 'mini RGB' is edge-lit. This distinction matters because while RGB LED can expand colors closer to the BT.2020 color space that underpins HDR standards, zone dimming remains the decisive factor in LCD TV picture quality. It is also only with zone dimming that HDR can be achieved.

Up to 100 inches
LG highlights that MRGB95B shares the same Alpha 11 video processor as its OLED models. MRGB95B also reaches up to 330Hz at half resolution (1080p) or 165Hz in 4K, and comes in sizes up to 100 inches.
MRGB9M gets a wireless connection box (ZeroConnect), while MRGB85B is a range of more affordable RGB LED LCD TVs – though they may face stiff competition from LG's new budget OLED TVs in the B6 and B6E ranges. All models run webOS 26.
