New major price hike for Xbox game consoles in Europe

03 Aug 2026 | Rasmus Larsen |

Microsoft is once again raising prices for Xbox game consoles. Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will both become up to €200 more expensive.

The new price increases in Europe follow the price hikes announced for the US in June. At the time, Microsoft cited rising component costs as the reason.

The European price increases are even steeper than those in the US:
  • Xbox Series S (512GB) increases from €350 to €500
  • Xbox Series S (1TB) increases from €400 to €600
  • Xbox Series X (1TB, Digital) increases from €550 to €750
  • Xbox Series X (1TB, Disc) increases from €600 to €800

Much more expensive than at launch

It is a dramatic price hike for Xbox consoles, which are already struggling to compete with PlayStation. This is the first console generation in which prices have increased after launch. Xbox Series S and Series X debuted in November 2020 with recommended retail prices of €300 and €500, respectively. Xbox Series X is now approaching double its original launch price despite being nearly 6-year old hardware. Sony last raised the prices of PS5 and PS5 Pro in April 2026.
