You can now play games like Forza Horizon 6 and Halo: Campaign Evolved on Hisense Vidaa OS-powered Smart TVs without an Xbox console.
Despite Microsoft shifting it strategy away from branding partner devices as an Xbox, the expansion of the Xbox cloud gaming app continues.
The Xbox app was already available on Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS Smart TVs, and is now also rolling out to newer Hisense TVs powered by the Vidaa operating system,.
- "Over the past month, we’ve started rolling out the Xbox app to millions of Vidaa OS-powered Smart TVs from 2024-2026, including supported Hisense models. With a compatible TV and controller, this gives you another way to enjoy your favorite games with Xbox. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can stream hundreds of games directly to your TV," announced Xbox.

Xbox Game Pass and owned games
You do not need an Xbox console to use the Xbox app. Instead, it streams new and old games directly to your TV from Microsoft's servers. You just need any Xbox Game Pass subscription and a Bluetooth game controller – Xbox or PlayStation – connected to the TV.
In addition to games included with Game Pass, the Xbox app also lets you stream compatible games that you have purchased over the years.
The Xbox app is still limited to 1080p SDR on Smart TVs. For 4K, HDR and Dolby Atmos you need the Xbox Series X console.
The Xbox app is rolling out gradually on Hisense and other TV brands with Vidaa OS 9.6 or later. It will automatically appear on the homescreen, so check your TV for a Vidaa OS 9.6 update.
The app is stil not available for Hisense Google TVs but is coming to Google TV later this year, TCL said at CES in January.
