The required firmware update is rolling out now with promises of better-looking Dolby Vision ahead of the first Dolby Vision 2 content.
As reported earlier by FlatpanelsHD, all TVs announced with Dolby Vision 2 this year will require a firmware update to enable the new HDR video standard.
Chinese TV maker Hisense is the first to release this update, rolling out now and over the coming weeks to select TV models, Hisense and Dolby jointly announced this week.

And the experience will only get richer with CANAL+, iQIYI, and Peacock committed to utilizing the expanded palette of Dolby Vision 2 capabilities,” Dolby said in the press release.
Dolby Vision 2 Max
Hisense's 2026 UX, UR9, UR8 and U7 (U7 Pro in EU, MEA, CSA) models running Google TV or Vidaa OS will be the first to receive the Dolby Vision 2 Max firmware update.
Compared to regular Dolby Vision 2 with the new image engine and and content intelligence, Dolby Vision 2 Max adds Authentic Motion (motion smoothing approved by film creators), Light Sense 2 (adaptive light adjustment to your viewing environment) and Pro settings to adjust Dolby Vision 2.

TCL and Philips will roll out Dolby Vision 2 updates for select models later this year. LG and Sony will not support Dolby Vision 2 in 2026, and Samsung does both support Dolby Vision in any form.
