LG has said that webOS 26 delivers a faster webOS experience along with new AI and home control features. It is now rolling out to older TV models in waves.
webOS 26 launched with LG's 2026 models, but it was always the plan to make it available for older TV models as part of LG's about-face decision in 2023 to finally provide annual OS upgrades for four years.
In other words, webOS 26 will be available for at least the 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 models, unless LG later decides to match Samsung's 7-year commitment for Tizen OS.
webOS 26 for older models
webOS 26 is now gradually rolling out to older LG models, starting with the G5 OLED, according to Cachy's Blog.
webOS 26 promises a faster experience, a redesigned Home Hub with Homey integration, a child mode, new AI features such as AI image generation for the Gallery feature and improved AI search, among other additions. FlatpanelsHD was not overly impressed with the additions in our review of the LG G6 OLED.
LG is also removing some features, such as ColourSpace and bscpylgtv calibration options, as well as support for 360 VR in the web browser, according to Cachy's Blog.

A gradual rollout
As always, the firmware update will roll out gradually depending on your TV model and region. The C-series OLED TVs are usually next in line, followed by high-end LCD TVs and B-series OLED TVs. The 2024, 2023 and 2022 models should receive the update gradually later in 2026 or early 2027.
Check your TV's update menu or your local LG support page. The firmware in question is version 43.21.71 and is already available to download in some countries for manual installation via a USB stick for the G5 if you want to skip the queue. It is a 2GB download. Once installed, you cannot downgrade to webOS 25 again.
Last year, LG began rolling out webOS 25 to older TVs in late September, so the webOS 26 rollout is starting sooner, although it is still delayed compared to the spring launch of webOS 26 on the 2026 models.
