'Troy' released in remastered 4K HDR

If The Odyssey has inspired you to dive deeper into Homer's epics, you can now watch or revisit Troy in 4K Dolby Vision.

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is based on The Odyssey, while Wolfgang Petersen and David Benioff's Troy from 2004 is based on The Iliad.

Both works are written-down epics dating from around 750–700 BC by the Greek poet Homer, but based on songs several centuries older. The Iliad depicts the tenth and final year of the Trojan War. The Odyssey is a direct continuation, taking place immediately after the end of the war and following Odysseus on his 10-year journey home.


Now in 4K Dolby Vision
The remastered version of Troy is derived from new scans of the original 35mm film negative, making this a proper remaster in native 4K. The soundtrack is DTS-HD MA 5.1.

Both the 163-minute theatrical cut and the extended 196-minute Director's Cut have been remastered in 4K with HDR10 and Dolby Vision, offering an expanded range of luminance and color in 10-bit.


UHD Blu-ray first
Arrow Video has released the film on UHD Blu-ray as a limited edition on two discs. The film has yet to be released in 4K on digital movie stores like Apple TV, Amazon and Fandango at Home (Vudu)

Retailers like Amazon are selling the limited edition UHD Blu-ray, but it is quite pricey at $65.
