Samsung unveils first 2027 OLED monitors: 32" 4K, 42" 4K and 49" 5K2K

At Gamescom 2026, Samsung has unveiled the new Odyssey G9 (G95SJ), G8 (G80SJ) and G7 (G75SJ) OLED monitors as well as its first 1100Hz LCD monitor.

The highlight is the upgraded ultra-wide Odyssey G9 (G95SJ), which will feature a fifth-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel with RGB-stripe pixels for clearer text and graphics, 5K2K (5120x1440) resolution, 1300 nits peak brightness, a 360Hz refresh rate and a dual-mode for 720Hz at 2560x720 resolution.

It replaces the current Odyssey G9 (G95SD), although this is not always obvious in Samsung's marketing, so be careful when shopping. G95SJ is not available yet. The 'J' in the G95SJ model name means that it is actually a 2027 model (2026 = H).

Samsung said that the new panel is "up to 1.3 times more efficient and offers up to twice the lifetime of the previous generation".


Samsung's new G7 OLED range
Samsung is also introducing a new category under its Odyssey gaming monitor range, saying that the Odyssey G7 (G75SJ) is the world's first 42-inch curved 16:9 OLED gaming monitor.

Here, Samsung refers to it simply as OLED rather than QD-OLED, suggesting that it uses a WOLED panel from LG Display, but we are seeking confirmation. It features 4K resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, a 0.03ms response time and a 1000R curvature. Being an OLED, it naturally supports HDR.

It is also a 2027 model.


Triple-mode OLED and 1100Hz LCD
Lastly, there is the upgraded 32-inch G8 (G80SJ), which will feature a fifth-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel with 4K resolution and up to 360Hz.

A triple mode enables 520Hz at 1440p or 680Hz at 1080p. It features HDR, a matte coating, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 and USB-C with 98W power delivery. It will launch later as yet another 2027 model. Pricing details were not announced.

Curiously, there was no 25-inch QD-OLED monitor announced by Samsung Electronics at Gamescom, despite its display manufacturing division, Samsung Display, having just announced the panel, so we may have to wait until CES 2027 in January.

Lastly, Samsung said that the 27-inch Odyssey G7 IPS LCD monitor announced back in January 2026 as a 1040Hz monitor will actually support 1100Hz, with a launch planned for the second half of 2026. However, we expect Samsung's OLED monitors to deliver significantly better motion clarity despite their slightly lower refresh rates.
