Price increases have now hit all the major streaming boxes, with Nvidia Shield following Apple TV 4K, Google TV Streamer, Fire TV and Roku with a 50% price hike.
Apple TV 4K became more expensive at the end of June, Fire TV and Roku later in the summer, while a price increase for Google TV Streamer was announced in September.
This comes amid significant price increases for gaming consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox as well as many other electronics products.
Shield TV Pro gets more expensive
Nvidia Shield TV Pro has now also gone up in price. In the US, the list price has increased 50% from $200 to $300. In Europe, it has increased 50% from 220 to 330 Euro.
That is a hefty price increase for 7-year old hardware.
- "Starting October 2, Shield Pro will be priced at $299. The cost of components, including memory, has increased substantially across the industry," an Nvidia spokesperson told Ars Technica.

Tube Shield TV discontinued
The price of the Shield TV Pro has already been increased on Nvidia's website and with partner retailers, and even if you are lucky to find a retailer with a lower price, chances are that it is out of stock.
That is because the box is sold out worldwide, seemingly as a consequence of the storage chip crisis, as noted by FlatpanelsHD last week.
The cheaper Shield TV (tube) has been discontinued, the company confirmed.
