Walmart’s Vudu has launched a new kind of movie streaming service. With “Vudu Movies on Us” you can stream movies such as ‘Mad Max’ and ‘True Grit’ in HD quality for free with commercials.

Vudu already lets you rent or buy movies in up to 4K/HDR quality, and with a new free option you can watch a catalog of movies for free with commercials.

With Vudu Movies on Us, customers can watch HD movies and TV for free, and on-demand, with limited commercials,” said Jeremy Verba, vice president and general manager, Vudu. “Millions of customers already buy and rent content on Vudu on a monthly basis. This new service provides value for customers who want to watch movies and TV for free, when and how they wish to watch, without sacrificing quality.”
You can watch movies such as ‘Mad Max’, ‘True Grit’, ‘Abduction’, and ‘School of Rock’. There are “thousands of free movies or TV titles with limited ads”, the company said. All movies are available in 1080p HD quality and most with Dolby Digital sound.
To use the service you need to open the existing Vudu app and navigate to the “Spotlight” tab. From here you will find a new “Movies on Us” option (as seen in the picture above).
Vudu Movies on Us is available from the standard Vudu app on Smart TV, Roku, Chromecast, game consoles, PC/Mac, Android TV as well as iOS and Android.
