Review: Nvidia opens up GeForce Now's 120fps & 4K HDR plan to all

All users in supported regions can now sign up to GeForce Now's $200/year RTX 3080 plan that supports up to 4K HDR game streaming on the Shield box or 1600p120 on PC/Mac.

The new premium subscription plan that was announced in October is now available to all users in all supported regions. Pre-orders are no longer required.

GeForce Now lets you stream select PC games purchased through participating storefronts (Steam, Epic etc) on supported devices. You basically rent RTX 3080 equivalent hardware in the cloud to render the game, which then gets streamed to your device over the internet.

- "GeForce NOW RTX 3080 memberships are available today for instant access. Preorders poof, be gone," Nvidia announced.

It will cost you $100 dollars every six months and you currently get a free copy of Crysis Remastered.



Game streaming is supported at up to 1440p at 120 FPS on PC, 1600p at 120 FPS on newer MacBooks, 1440p at 120 FPS on most iMacs, 4K HDR at 60 FPS on Nvidia Shield TV, and up to 120 FPS on select Android devices. It also supports 7.1 surround sound.

You will need minimum 40 Mbps broadband for 4K HDR game streaming and minimum 35 Mbps for 1440p120.

Nvidia is not alone in the arena. Google has Stadia, Amazon has Luna, Sony has PlayStation Now, and Microsoft has Xbox Game Pass with xCloud, which will also launch on Smart TVs.
