Review: New Nokia 8010 streaming box features upgraded SoC, Android 11

|

The Nokia Streaming Box 8010 is the successor to the 8000 that launched in 2020. It has an upgraded SoC with more RAM, more storage, and Android TV 11.

The box is produced by Streamview who has licensed the Nokia brand, and it is an alternative to other Android-based streaming players such as Chromecast with Google TV and Nvidia Shield.

The company claims that the extra power is ideal for gaming sessions but we have some doubts about that, not least because native gaming has not taken off on Android TV. On the other hand you have access to Nvidia's GeForce Now game streaming service.

- "The latest version, the Nokia Streaming Box 8010, comes with an improved chipset, ideal for gaming sessions. With three integrated USB ports, one more than in the previous model, connecting two game controllers is a breeze. Users will also be pleased about the higher memory capacity, which amounts to a total of 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32 GB eMMC Flash," the company said.

Android TV provides access to over 7000 apps including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+ and Netflix, and a few of these have paid Streamview to get they logo on sponsored butttons on the remote control. In addition, it has built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant. Streamview did not specify the level of HDR support but the predecessor supported HDR10 so we expect at least that. Nokia 8010 also supports 4K and Dolby Atmos. Additional specifications can be found below. The The Nokia Streaming Box 8010 will be available later this month Europe-wide online at streamview.com and in partner stores for 129 Euro.
