LG Display and Sony are currently discussing Sony TVs with passive 3D panels, according to Reuters. LG Display is interested in selling passive 3D panels for Sony’s future flat panel TVs.
Sony with passive 3D TVs
LG launched their Cinema 3D TVs recently based on their own FPR 3D technology, Vizio also use LG’s FPR technology and Philips recently introduced passive 3DTVs as well. Now Sony might be looking to introduce passive 3DTVs, too. In 2010 only active 3DTVs made it to the market (except in the UK).

LG is currently promoting their Cinema 3D technology
Sony and LG are currently discussing passive 3DTVs, according to Reuters. If a deal is finalized it will give LG a huge marketing boost for their passive 3D technology. It would also mean that Sony could expand their 3D portfolio to both passive and active 3D TVs.
Samsung currently has 60 percent of the 3D market. Samsung, Panasonic and Sony have been promoting the active 3D technology for the past year but Samsung has also exhibited a Full HD passive 3D technology called RDZ.
Sony has not confirmed the article by Reuters.
