Philips has updated their Cinema 21:9 Platinum & 21:9 Gold models in the extra-wide cinema format. Philips boasts technologies such as 1200 Hz Perfect Motion Rate, 3D Max & Easy 3D, Ambilight Spectre 3 and LED backlighting. Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum & Gold will be available in a few months.

Philips has updated their Cinema 21:9 Platinum (already showcased at IFA 2010) with a range of the latest picture technologies from Philips. The extra-wide 21:9 format is the best for viewing cinema movies, Philips says.

Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum now comes with a 1200 Hz system (combined with scanning backlights), 3D Max with active 3D glasses, 2D-to-3D conversion and 0.5 ms response time. The resolution of the LCD-panel inside the TV is 2560x1080 pixels.

Philips has made the Cinema 21:9 models considerably slimmer, made possible with LED backlighting that also lowers power consumption. Ambilight has not been forgotten and Philips has built in the Spectre 3 variant where both sides and the top of the TV are being illuminated. NET TV Internet functionality is naturally available and Philips also mentions Multi-View where users can divide the screen into two sections. Lastly, Philips highlights the Two-Player Full-screen gaming function (learn more here), where two players can play games in full-screen, from two different perspectives, on the same TV.
Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum launches in 58 inches called 58PFL9956H and is expected to cost around 4200 Euro.

Philips has also updated their Cinema 21:9 Gold, which is a cheaper variant in 50 inches. The Gold variant uses LED backlighting.

In addition it offers 400 Hz PMR, Ambilight Spectre 2 and Pixel Plus HD. All Philips’ multimedia functions such as USB recording, Wi-Fi and DLNA are also included - these are also available in Platinum.

The cheaper Cinema 21:9 Gold with Easy 3D (passive 3D) in 50 inches is called 50PFL7956H and will cost 2500 Euro.
