Apple is reportedly working on a new TV service. Apple has been in contact with cable and media companies for over a year but negotiations have been “heating up” recently. The TV service will allow viewers to skip commercials.
Apple working on ad-skipping TV service
According to former Wall Street Journal reporter Jessica Lessin, Apple is working hard to launch a new TV service. So far it seems that it will be US-only – at least from the beginning.

Apple hopes to launch a TV service
The TV service will combine live TV and on-demand. Apple is also said to be in discussion over the option to skip TV commercials for an extra fee. The TV service is intended as part of the Apple TV box and all software will be developed exclusively by Apple.
Apple has reportedly been in negotiations for over a year, but it is only recently that negotiations have become more concrete. Last week, Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, and Eddy Cue, “the deal maker”, attended a major conference where cable and media companies were present.
This is not the first time we hear about Apple working on a TV service. In March 2012 it was reported that Apple’s TV service would launch before the end of 2012. That did not happen, apparently.
