Xbox One launches in 13 countries to long lines

Xbox One has officially launched in 13 countries today. It has been received with enthusiasm and to long lines. Microsoft promises great things from the next-generation console.

Update: Microsoft says that they have sold 1 million Xbox One consoles on launch day - the same number that Sony sold of the PlayStation 4.

Eager customers lined up before midnight to buy Microsoft’s new Xbox One that has officially launched today. Just like the PlayStation 4, it was received with enthusiasm. Reviewers have generally praised the Xbox One for a stronger game line-up at launch day, but also pointed to some issues with the media and TV integration.

Microsoft has positioned the Xbox One as part game console, part media box, and in it can also communicate with your TV set-top box. Microsoft is highlighting the new, more accurate Kinect peripheral, and also says that more than 300,000 Xbox servers will make games even better by utilizing cloud features; a feature that we will surely hear more about in the future.

Just like the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One lacks some features at launch. It will not fully support DLNA media streaming on your home network and it does not play 3D Blu-ray movies. More features are expected to be added with later software updates.
