Eizo and BenQ were the first to introduce flicker-free monitors, and more have followed in recent months. Asus is now launching two 28-inch Full HD monitors with a flicker-free LED backlight.
Asus’ flicker-free monitors
Modern PC monitors with LED backlight can cause eyestrain and headache because of PWM-controlled LED. Eizo released the first flicker-free model that we reviewed here and several manufacturers have since released flicker-free monitors.
Asus’ two new 28-inch monitors are also flicker-free (Asus calls it Eye-Care). Both monitors feature a glossy VA panel with 1920x1080 resolution, 5 ms response time and 3000:1 contrast. Asus says the monitors can reproduce the sRGB color space, which is widely used on PCs today.
The monitors incorporate 2W stereo speakers and can be connected to a PC via HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort or D-SUB (VGA). The main difference between the two VN289H and VN289Q monitors is that the Q model only features 1 HDMI input, whereas the H model has two.
Asus’ new flicker-free monitors will be available in Europa and USA very soon. Prices are expected to start at around 330 Euro.
