Just like Samsung, LG has started selling its 105-inch luxury TV. It is a extra-wide 21:9 format TV with “5K resolution” and it is available for around $117,000.

Making luxury TVs is no longer reserves for the likes of Bang & Olufsen and Loewe. Samsung and LG are trying to grab a piece of the high-end market, too.
First unveiled at CES back in January, LG’s 105-inch TV has what LG calls “5K resolution”, or 5120x2160 pixels to be exact. The extra pixels are placed horizontally because the TV utilizes the 21:9 aspect ratio, much like movie theatres. The TV is also slightly curved.

- “The vision behind LG’s 105-inch 21:9 CURVED ULTRA HD TV was to bring the movie theater into the living room,” said In-kyu Lee, SVP of the TV division at LG.
LG’s TV also has a built-in 7.2 channel audio system, developed by Harman Kardon, and can reproduce 3D pictures based on LG’s passive 3D technology with inexpensive polarized glasses like the ones in movie theatres.
LG’s 105UC9 is now available in Korea for 120 million Won, which is around $117,000 US dollars. It will be available in other regions from the fourth quarter of 2014 - just in time for your Christmas present shopping.
