06 Jan 2015 | Rasmus Larsen |

Sony has announced new 2015 Ultra HD TVs, including the X900C that Sony claims is the thinnest TV yet. Sony will also launch a range of cheaper Ultra HD TVs with Android TV and PlayStation Now.

Only 4.9 mm at thinnest point

Sony announced its 2015 TV line-up at CES 2015 with a heavy focus on Ultra HD TV and Google’ Android TV, which brings apps and games to Sony’s TVs. Sony's new X900C is Sony's thinnest TV to date, measuring just 4.9 mm at its thinnest point.

Android TV brings the Android experience to the big screen with apps from Google Play developed specifically for the big screen. One of the highlighted features is PlayStation Now that allows you to stream PS3 and PS2 games without the console. Sony’s TVs also have built-in Google Cast, allowing you to use them as a Chromecast device, and the remote has a microphone for voice search.

Sony is going all-in on Ultra HD TV combined with Triluminos, which expands the color gamut. Sony is also highlighting the X-tended Dynamic Range system that boost brightness on the TVs, allowing them to reproduce HDR. Sony and Netflix also announced a partnership to bring Netflix HDR content to Sony’s TVs when Netflix starts streaming in HDR 4K later this year.
